SATURDAY, OCTOBER 18
• A golf tournament, sponsored by St. Ann’s Men Club, begins with tee-off at 1:30 p.m. at Southern Oaks Golf Club in Burleson. The tournament is a four-man scramble. The entry fee for individuals is $60, and golfers will be served hamburgers for lunch. A hole sponsor will receive signage on the Tee Box for $100. Team sponsorships are available. Proceeds of the fundraiser will be used for the continuing ministries of St. Ann’s. The deadline for individual golfers is Oct. 10; the deadline for sponsors is Sept. 30. • The Nazarene Christian Academy’s first Asian Run begins at 8 a.m. with a 1-mile fun run. Cost is $15 before the race and $20 the day of the event. • The annual Character Luncheon, hosted by First United Methodist Church in Burleson, is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cliff Dugosh will be the guest speaker. The event is free, and tickets are available at the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25
• A Texas Hunter Education Safety Course, hosted by the city of Burleson, is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Burleson Community Center. A 10-hour program geared toward children greater than 9 years of age and adults, the class is two days and costs $25. For information, call 817-295-8168.
• The second annual Haunted Hayride and Fall Festival, sponsored by the city of Crowley and Albertson’s, is today. The hayride is at Bicentennial Park. For information, call Gwen at 817-297-6707. • The Johnson County Area Real Estate Investors Organization
The Johnson County Area Real Estate Investors Organization meets from 6-9 p.m. the first Thursday of every month in the Wilshire Room of the First National Bank of Burleson at 740 SW Wilshire Blvd.

• Take off Pounds Sensibly
TOPS, or Take Off Pounds Sensibly, a nonprofit weight-loss support group, meets Tuesday nights at 6:15 p.m. for weigh-ins and at 7 p.m. for a meeting at the Burleson Senior Center. Men and women of all ages are welcome. For information, call 817-447-6146.

• St. Matthew Cumberland Presbyterian Church

The First Baptist Church Crowley, 400 S. Eagle Drive in Crowley, offers DivorceCare, a weekly seminar and support group for people who are separated or divorced. The group meets at 5 p.m. beginning Feb. 10 at the building. Call 817-297-4347.

• Burleson Community Center
The Burleson Community Center, 500 Chisenhall Park Lane, is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 12-9 p.m. Sunday.
The center has several ongoing activities for all ages. The activities are:
• Table Tennis Club — Mondays from 7-9 p.m. All ages are welcome for free table tennis.
zx Beginner boot camp — Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. Cost is $35 per month. First class is free.
• Tong Il Lo Martial Science — Fridays. Ages 4-6 are from 6-7 p.m., ages 7 and up beginner are from 7-8 p.m., and ages 7 and up advanced are from 8-9 p.m. Cost is $10 per week, with a $30 one time registration fee per year.

• Burleson Senior Activity Center
The Burleson Senior Activity Center, 216 S.W. Johnson Ave., is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. Saturdays For information, call Pat Williams at 817-295-6611.
The center has several ongoing activities for seniors. Activities include:
• Blood pressure checks and hearing screenings from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. second Tuesdays and for school employees from 2-4 p.m. second Mondays.

• Dances. Line dancing is from 1-2 p.m. Mondays and 10-11 a.m. Tuesdays. Country and western dancing is from 7-9:30 p.m. second Fridays.
• Crafts. Quilting is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mondays, and Burleson Baby Quilting meets at 10 a.m. Thursdays.
• Daily table games include dominoes, 42, pinochle, cards, bridge, canasta, bingo and hand and foot. Refreshments are served for Bingo Friday nights.
• The exercise class meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays.

• Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce
The Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce offers a defensive driving course for ticket dismissal and auto insurance discounts. Cost is $35 for the course.
The classes are offered:
• Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a 45 minute break for lunch
• Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 p.m.

• Crowley Public Library
The Crowley library has opportunities for adult and young adults to volunteer. Volunteers perform varied duties suited to their schedule and interests. Anyone wishing to volunteer a few hours each week can call Whitworth or Leslie Rushano at 817-297-6707.
The following events are also schedule for the library:
• Story Time for Wednesdays is canceled until September. Story Time on Fridays is at 11 a.m. for preschool students.
zx Story Time, Crafts & Pizza is held at 7 p.m. Thursdays; all ages welcome. Mothers’ participation is required for some crafts for children under 4.
• The adult book club meets at 10:30 a.m. the first Friday of each month in the conference room. Scrap booking is available to the community for $10 on the first Saturday of each month. Computer classes are also offered; date and time information is available at the library.
•x Tutor.com, an online program for students offering homework help in several subjects to students in grades four through college, is available through www.crowleylibrary.org.
• Friends of the Crowley Library, a nonprofit that provides support to the library staff and volunteers, meets at 7 p.m. the third Monday of the month in the Founders’ Room. The Friends sponsor several events throughout the year that benefit the library. The most popular event is the citywide garage and book sale, held in May and October.
•The library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The library is closed Sunday and Monday. For information, call the library at 817-297-6707.

• Crowley Senior Center
The Crowley Senior Center is operated Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch served daily at 11:30 p.m. on a donation basis to individuals who are 60 years of age or older or their spouses. In addition to the meal program seniors can receive benefits counseling, attend Bible study, trips to health fairs, bingo and card games as well as other activities.
