Denny nabs honor

Crowley graduate Megan Denny recently earned the Big 12 Community Champion honor for her community service efforts.
Denny, a senior, is the top pitcher for the University of Texas, with an 18-7 record and a 1.87 ERA. Denny averaged 10.2 strikeouts per seven innings to finish ninth in the nation.
Denny received the Big 12 Conference’s Good Works Team award, given to those who excel in their sport and in community service.
She has been involved in the Marathon Kids, Longhorn Halloween and Orange Santa. Denny also volunteers at Sanchez Elementary School in Austin and with the Maybridge Foundation, helping with the Special Olympics banquet.
Denny is on the Big 12 Student-Athlete Advisory Council. She also mentors and tutors at-risk adolescents at the Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center in south Austin.
