City of Burleson honors longtime employees for years of service

Two city of Burleson employees earned awards for 30 years of service to the community. Ginger Allen and Paula Ibsen were honored at an employee awards luncheon on Dec. 15.
Allen was hired March 19, 1979, as a tax clerk.
In October 1980 she transferred to the finance department as a bookkeeper.
In 1982 Allen was promoted to senior bookkeeper, and in 1986 she became a personnel clerk when personnel moved out of finance.
In 1991, Allen was promoted to personnel assistant and since 1999 she has been a human resources generalist II.
Ibsen was hired Oct. 1, 1979, as a civilian secretary to then-police chief Homer Barnes.
She attended the police academy and became a sworn officer in 1981.
She returned to civilian status as accreditation manager in the mid-2000s.
Police Commander Doug Sandifer was also honored for his 25 years of service to the city.
He started as a part-time paid reserve officer on March 1, 1984, and was hired full time in August 1984.
Sandifer was promoted to corporal in 1986, sergeant in 1988, captain in 1993, and is commander over administrative services.
Earning 20-year honors are Dorothy Estep of support services, Melvin McGuire of the police department, and John Phillips of the street department.
Fifteen-year awards went to Brenda Chrusciaki in finance, Chris Havens of the police department, Peter Krause in parks and recreation, Darin Pool of the police department, and Johnny West in the parks department.
Earning 10-year service awards were Norma Bowman in parks and recreation, Steve Haas of the police department, Diron Hill of the police department, Jay Hutchison in the water department, Kristina Johnson in the finance department, Mike Jones of thefire department, Jeremiah Lozier of the fire department, Greg Mason of the fire department, David Rosenbam in the parks department, Rodney Schlotzhauer in facility maintenance, and Larry Sparks of the police department.
Recipients of five-year service awards were Frank Bianchini in information technology, Casey Davis of the fire department, Mark Eder in information technology, Lisa Edwards in utility customer service, Dallas Fowler of the fire department, Karen Goodman of the police department, Nick Grace of the police department, Josh Jacobs of the fire department, Shaun Kellum of the police department, Mike Krsnak at Hidden Creek Golf Course, Kevin Law in the water department, Fulgencio Mena in the parks department, Scott Poe in the street department, Kenny Sanders in the street department, Claude Scally of the fire department, Regina Schulter of the police department, Fire Marshal Paula Skundberg, Shelby Stone of the fire department, and Tammy Thompson in code compliance.
Also recognized at the awards luncheon were employees who served on city committees, including the Christmas Awards Luncheon committee, Health and Wellness, Benefits Design and United Way.
During the holiday season, city employees donated more than 300 personal care items for Harvest House clients.
