zx Approved the high school choir’s spring break trip to Austria.
zx Discussed the use of oil and gas money for employee Christmas bonuses but tabled the measure. “The board agreed it would be prudent to hang on to that money in the tough economic times,” public information officer Richard Crummel said.
zx Heard a report on TPRI (Texas Primary Reading Inventory), a program that evaluates the reading skills of the district’s very young students.
zx Terminated and abandoned easement at Brock Elementary School and approved an access easement at the same school.

North Pole Calling gives children a chat with Santa

Burleson children will receive a personal phone call from Santa Claus thanks to the North Pole Calling program coordinated by the city of Burleson’s parks and recreation department.
For their children to receive the call, parents must make an appointment at the Burleson Community Center or the Burleson Public Library. Informational fliers about the phone calls from the North Pole are also being distributed through the Burleson ISD’s elementary campuses.
Santa’s helpers will help St. Nick coordinate the phone calls, which will be made between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Dec. 8 through Dec. 11. The calls are geared toward children from pre-kindergarten through second grade.
Only children who reside in Burleson or who attend Burleson ISD schools are eligible.
Completed forms must be returned to the Burleson Community Center no later than Dec. 3. The center is located at 500 Chisenhall Park Lane.
For more information about North Pole Calling, call the city of Burleson’s parks and recreation department at 817-295-8168.
