CROWLEY — The Crowley Eagles (2-4, 2-1) were able to put the Granbury Pirates (0-6, 0-3) away early in their Fistrict 8-4A matchup Friday night at Eagle Stadium.
The Eagles put forth a solid rushing effort with 355 yards rushing, but did not complete a pass in the contest
Granbury, on the other hand, was plagued with several turnovers.
Chris Allen of Crowley returned a fumble for a touchdown on the third play of the game and had a rushing touchdown in the first half.
Quarterback Andre Dean added 2 touchdowns on the ground, and amassed 163 yards on 8 carries all in the first half.
In the first half for the Eagles, the offense scored quickly and gave up little yardage on defense.
Crowley’s four scoring possessions averaged 44 seconds in length with an average starting field position of the Eagles’ 45 yard line.
The Eagle's last score of the game came with 4:26 left in the first half on a one-play, 82-yard drive where Andre Dean bolted untouched down the sideline on a quarterback keeper.
Crowley started out with the ball in the second half and ran the ball with several backups in the game.
The Eagles gained a few first downs, but were not able to put together a complete drive and score.
Granbury punched the ball into the end zone in the fourth quarter after a 46-yard pass from Cody Sillivent to Jack Mabe put the Pirates on the Crowley 8-yard line.
On the next play, Jesse Hernandez ran untouched for the touchdown.
Granbury missed the extra-point after a penalty forced the try back to 35 yards.
