Burleson police stop Loftin going 91 mph in 55 mph zone
Burleson police arrested Crowley Fire Chief Robert Loftin on a charge of driving while intoxicated on Sept. 27. Loftin, 47, resides in Burleson.
An officer conducted a traffic stop at 9:49 p.m. after recording Loftin’s pickup traveling 91 mph in a 55 mph zone in the 2300 block of SW Wilshire Boulevard, according to Burleson Police Department reports. The officer followed Loftin, who was weaving, until he came to a stop at Briarcrest and Oakdale streets, according to reports.
The officer arrested Loftin after conducting a field sobriety test. Loftin was transported to Huguley Memorial Medical Center for a blood draw before being taken to the Burleson jail for processing. Loftin was subsequently transferred to the Johnson County Corrections Center and released on a $1,000 bond.
Loftin said he did not wish to comment on the matter at this time.
“It’s still under investigation,” he said. “I may be able to comment more later on when it gets further along.”
Loftin said charges have not been filed against him, which County Attorney Bill Moore’s office confirmed.
