The Crowley City Council unanimously denied the request for a preliminary plat on a piece of land on Crowley Road, north of Hampton road.
The decision came after the applicant said he would not allow access to the property behind his because he has no way of predicting what the land will be used for.
“You are still denying access to the property on the west side,” Mayor Billy Davis.
Representatives for the applicant, Crowley South Six Ltd., maintained that because they do not know the future use of the property to the immediate west, they do not want to take any risks.
“We have a statutory right to a plat, with all due respect,” applicant Donald Silverman said after the unanimous denial.
Before leaving the meeting, he said he plans to talk to the city attorney about the issue.
“He wants to put up curbing to deny access to the property behind his,” Councilwoman Paige Mullis said after the meeting.
The Crowley City Council also:
zx Approved a gas well drilling permit Carson Ranch 5H and 7H well sites.
