Some 10,000 Burleson-area residents watched the city’s fireworks display illuminate the sky July Fourth, said David McDowell, assistant director of parks and recreation.
About 4,000 of the spectators viewed the show from the Hidden Creek Sports Complex, where food and live music were incorporated into the festivities, he said.
Armed with lawn chairs and coolers, families and friends congregated on softball field No. 1 to watch the Mextroplex-based group Silver Rail followed by the Mighty Marvelous Four, a Temptations tribute band.
“So far we have heard nothing but positive feedback,” McDowell said. “We feel that it was the best show yet.”
This year was the 10th year the city hosted the Independence Day event, and the 18 minute fireworks show that capped off the night was synchronized to music.
Even parking was a not an issue, McDowell said.
“As far as I know about parking, it went as smooth as it could to have that many people and cars in one area,” he said. “The police department did a great job getting them out safely.”
Because of this year’s success, McDowell said organizers don’t plan any drastic changes for 2009.
“It will probably remain the same,” he said.
