Crowley lands 5 on 8-4A team

District 8-4A champion Joshua earned four of the seven superlative honors on the all-district baseball team.
Austyn Ross was named the most valuable player, Austin Neal was tabbed the pitcher of the year and Jordan Allen claimed offensive player of the year honors.
Owls head coach Jason Bourgeois was selected as the district’s coach of the year.
Two of the remaining three superlative honors stayed in Johnson County, with Cleburne catcher Colby Braddock nabbing defensive player of the year honors and Jacket pitcher/center fielder Ty Taylor garnering sophomore of the year accolades.
Crowley’s Shawn Green was named the district’s newcomer of the year.
Crowley’s Brett Thomas was the first-team catcher, while the five-man first team pitching staff consisted of Joshua’s Stephen Elrod and Colton Turner, Cleburne’s Shane Ingram, Crowley’s Kyle Reed and Everman’s Noel Davila.
Aledo’s Collin Hetzler was the first-team first baseman, with Stephenville’s Nick Young at second, Joshua’s Reed Watson at shortstop and Alvarado’s Ty Raby at third base.
The first-team outfield spots were claimed by Everman’s Randy Jacobs, Joshua’s William Fleischer and Aledo’s Cole Loftin.
The designated hitter was Everman’s Jairo Jimenez and Mineral Wells’ Junior Barham was the top utility player.
Joshua catcher Cayden Cunniff led the second-team selections, with the pitching staff of Cleburne’s Estefan Jimenez, Alvarado’s Trent Ingram, Crowley’s Alex Quinones, Stephenville’s Brad Picha and Aledo’s Brandon Campbell.
Stephenville’s Blake Pair was the first-team first baseman, with Joshua’s Joey Linch at second, Cleburne’s Frankie Valdez at shortstop and Mineral Wells’ Tucker Howard at third base.
Cleburne’s Clayton Skoog, Aledo’s Kenton Day and Crowley’s Tyler Wierzbicki were in the second-team outfield.
The second-team designated hitter was Alvarado’s Jonathan Johnson and the utility player was Aledo’s Justin Gibson.
